Direct Air Capture and Ocean Storage (DACOS), Edition 2025 v.1.1
適用条件(eligibility)
Applies to activities that utilize electrochemical processing (electrolysis) of seawater, powered by low carbon-intensity renewable energy, to capture atmospheric CO2 and sequester it as dissolved inorganic carbon in the ocean and as solid carbonate minerals, under conditions enabling safe and durable storage for at least 1000 years. The chemical reactions that sequester CO2 shall occur entirely within the confines of a closed-system electrochemical processing facility before discharge; any potential subsequent CO2 removal in the open ocean (alkalinity enhancement) is not eligible, explicitly excluding Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) and Direct Ocean Capture (DOC). Requires a facility with access to seawater, an abundant supply of low carbon-intensity power, and alkaline rock. The DACOS activity as a whole must be net negative.
